01 Oct 2009
Last chance for $14,000 grant!
First homebuyers can still claim $14,000 to build their new dream home at Peet estate. But, with the second deadline for the First Home owners’ Boost (FHOB) fast approaching, buyers should contact Peet today to access the Boost before the year is over.
Homebuyers who sign a contract to build a new home on or before 31 December 2009 may be eligible up to $14,000 to build that new home – through the $7,000 FHOB and the $7,000 First Home Owners’ Grant.
When combined with low interest rates, stamp duty concessions and the broad range of affordable lots currently available in Western Australia, now is the ideal time to secure a new homesite at a Peet estate.
Peet has communities with land available in the northern and southern suburbs of Perth, as well as the South-west and Great Southern.
From the commuter-friendly Village at Wellard and the expansive Lakelands and Carramar Golf Course estates to premium coastal living at Burns Beach Estate and quiet serenity at The Sanctuary in Albany, buyers can find a Peet estate that complements their lifestyle.
Buyers can also choose from neat cottage lots, through to generously proportioned blocks, perfect for growing families. The broad selection ensures first homebuyers will find a homesite that suits their budget and their needs now and into the future.
All of the communities enjoy access to local and community facilities, including schools, shopping and transport links. Many homesites are titled, which means home construction can begin as soon as the homesite is settled.

Buyers take advantage of home affordability high
Homebuyers at Peet estates around Western Australia are enjoying a choice of quality homesites and competitive prices, plus the most affordable housing since 2003.
Latest Real Estate Institute of Australia (REIA) statistics show Australia has the highest level of housing affordability in close to six years, with the proportion of family income required to meet loan repayments dropping to 28.6%.
Peet Limited Managing Director and CEO Brendan Gore said the news was reflected in strong interest from buyers at Peet estates since the start of the year, especially first homebuyers benefiting from generous government grants.
“Peet has a range of affordable, quality homesites available at nine estates in popular areas throughout Perth and in Australind and Albany,” Mr Gore said
“Since the start of the year, we have seen increasing numbers of buyers taking advantage of the broad choice of homesites, low interest rates and buyer incentives on offer, to secure a new home.
“First homebuyers have been particularly active, with young investors using the grants to purchase their first homes while unprecedented incentives are available.”
First homebuyers in Western Australia currently enjoy a huge $21,000 in grants, stamp duty exemptions for homes valued at under $500,000 and reduced duty for homes under $600,000.
Homebuyers can take advantage of excellent house affordability and realise their dream of building a home at Lakelands Private Estate.

Second Chance at Grants of $21,000 for WA's First Homebuyers
First homebuyers have a second chance to build a new home at a Peet Limited estate with the help of a total of $21,000 in grants – thanks to the extension of the First Home Owners Boost (FHOB).
The Federal Government announced yesterday that first homebuyers would have another six months to access the grant - but the amount available will be cut by half from 1 October 2009.
Homebuyers who sign a contract to build a new home on or before 30 September could be eligible for a FHOB of $14,000 and another $7,000 First Home Owners Grant.
Between 1 October 2009 and 31 December 2009, the FHOB is cut by half but first homebuyers could still be eligible for $14,000 toward their new homes.
Peet Limited Managing Director and CEO Brendan Gore welcomed the extension of the FHOB.
He said the steps involved in selecting a homesite and home design before signing a building contract meant time had been quickly running out for many eligible buyers before the extension was announced.
“Peet is pleased to be offering a range of quality, affordable homesites at estates in both northern and southern suburbs to meet the needs of first homebuyers,” he said,
Before making a grant application, first homebuyers will need to: • find a homesite • choose their preferred builder • select a home design • sign the building contract

Peet moves to ensure residents safety in the wake of storm damage at Lakelands Private Estate
Peet Limited has moved to ensure the safety of residents and visitors to Lakelands Private Estate in the wake of storm damage last weekend.
As a result of strong storm activity, a large branch from a mature Tuart tree was brought down in parkland at Lakelands Private Estate on Sunday 18 January – sparking fears among some residents that other branches may be at risk of falling.
Peet immediately roped off the area around the damaged Tuart Tree, erected signage and closed the park to residents and visitors.
Peet also called in experts – including an experienced arborculturalist – to assess the damaged tree. Within days, the tree had been inspected and deemed too unstable to safely remain in the park. Tree surgeons were called in and the tree has been removed and the area cleaned up and made safe again.
The park has now been reopened.
Although situations like this are extremely rare, Peet is taking action to ensure the estate’s other mature trees are safe and healthy.
This follows a very detailed assessment of which trees and other vegetation should be retained undertaken in collaboration with the City of Mandurah in 2006.
As most people in the community would agree, mature trees add history and character to parkland areas.
But unfortunately from time to time these trees, like any other, can be susceptible to wind and weather.
Understanding this, with the advice of our specialist team of environmental consultants, the design of all our parklands ensures tree canopies do not overhang public active areas such as playgrounds.
An analysis of the tree branch has confirmed that although white ants were present in the tree, they were not the cause of the branch to fall – it was a result of the strong winds and related storm activity at the time.
We have instructed our environmental consultants – EPCAD – to conduct a thorough examination of all similar trees throughout Lakelands Private Estate to ensure they remain a safe and valuable part of the community.
EPCAD’s highly trained consultants specialise in landscaping assessment and planning and have a well deserved reputation for environmental excellence.
Working with such a high calibre team has helped Lakelands Private Estate become one of the most environmentally sustainable estates in the Mandurah area. This commitment to the environment has been recognised by numerous awards such as the UDIA Sustainable Urban Development Award (2006) and the HIA-GreenSmart (WA) - Development of the Year Award (2005).
The safety of the community is of paramount importance and Peet Limited will keep all Lakelands Private Estate residents up-to-date on this issue.

Rare homestead lot add to variety of options of Lakelands
A new release of homestead lots at Peet Limited's Lakelands Private Estate is providing buyers an even wider selection of homesite options to choose from at the award-winning Estate.
The homesites are in easy walking distance of beautifully landscaped parks. The lots are located on Arramall Trail, with some boasting views of the picturesque Black Swan Lake.
The five lots, which range from 1380sqm up to a massive 1804sqm, are priced between $330,000 and $370,000.
This release compliments two other recent releases at Lakelands - Stages 27 and 22 - which were brought to the market early to meet demand.
Comprising 18 blocks, Stage 27 consists of cottage sites perfect for buyers looking for an easy to maintain lifestyle. Lot sizes range from 317sqm to 460sqm and are priced between $150,000 and $162,000.
Stage 22 boasts elevated traditional homesites just a short stroll from numerous quality parklands with sizes from 451sqm up to 675sqm. The homesite lots are priced from $165,000.
Peet Limited Managing Director Brendan Gore said it is easy to see why buyers are attracted to the lifestyle on offer at Lakelands Private Estate.
"There's already been interest from a range of buyers looking for the kind of lifestyle a large lot can offer, with the benefit of having access to all the conveniences provided at an estate like Lakelands," said Mr Gore.
"Aside from the natural attractions, the estate is also well located close to numerous schools, major shopping facilities and other amenities with Mandurah train line making it even easier for those wanting to work in the city, yet live in a family-orientated neighbourhood.
"Lakelands offers an enviable list of attractions with the beautiful Madora Beach just minutes from the estate, and Mandurah's renowned boating, fishing, crabbing and picnicking spots are just some of the regular favourites Lakelands residents have at their doorstep."
An added attraction for all purchasers is Peet Limited's Flying Start package, which at Lakelands Private Estate includes fencing, front garden landscaping and reticulation and architectural advice on the solar orientation of their new home – making it easier and more affordable to build and establish their new home.
Those looking for a glimpse into the Lakelands lifestyle are invited to visit the Estate's display village – one of the southern suburbs' most comprehensive builders display villages. The village is located on Dalona Parkway, off Mandurah Road and features 22 new home designs from some of Perth's most renowned builders.

Local residents give Lakelands community house a warm welcome
Hundreds of Lakelands residents and members of the surrounding community turned out to give the new Lakelands Community House a warm welcome last weekend (Saturday 9 August).
City of Mandurah Mayor Paddi Creevey officially opened the Community House, unveiling a framed photograph of the new facility at Peet Limited’s award-winning Lakelands Private Estate.
The crowd was kept entertained throughout the day by roving performers, face painters and live music, with a special arts and crafts area also proving a huge hit.
Local community groups including the Peel Volunteer Resource Centre, Neighbourhood Watch and the Lions Club of Mandurah were on hand to share valuable information about the groups operating in the area.
City of Mandurah Mayor Paddi Creevey said it was fantastic to see the new facility already helping to bring the community together.
“The Lakelands Community House was designed to provide a place for the local community to interact with each other and it was great to see so many people enjoy the opening celebration,” Mayor Creevey said.
“This facility will provide a valuable resource for individuals and community groups alike, and will help build and maintain a strong community here in Lakelands.”
The Lakelands Community House is located on the corner of Dalona Parkway and Jasper Way in Lakelands Private Estate. The House has been designed to suit all members of the community and features wheelchair access, wide internal corridors and doorways throughout.
It features a large open plan family room ideal for group activities as well as a smaller boardroom for both formal and informal meetings, with a well equipped kitchen to provide for catering needs. There is also a beautifully landscaped backyard with a decked cabana, large sandpit and play area for young children.
Peet Limited Managing Director Brendan Gore said the Lakelands Community House is a great demonstration of what can be achieved through partnerships.
“The House has been made possible through a partnership between the City of Mandurah and Peet Limited and provides a valuable community facility for the local area. This partnership has enabled the City of Mandurah to provide an interim community facility very early in the development of Lakelands well before a permanent facility would ever be contemplated,” said Mr Gore.
“It is very encouraging to see so many residents already submitting ideas for functions in the House and we look forward to seeing those come to fruition in coming months.”
The Lakelands Community House is already the new home for the Lakelands Sales and Information Office and will also host future meetings of the Lakelands community group. It will also be available for use by other local community groups, and will form a hub for Lakelands and the surrounding neighbourhood.
Anyone wishing to hire the facility please contact Francis Tas at the Lakelands Sales and Information Office on 9581 8835 or the City of Mandurah Recreation Services on 9550 3620. Alternatively visit the House during the following times:

Join in the opening celebrations at the Lakelands Community House
Lakelands residents and the local community are invited to join the City of Mandurah and Peet Limited to celebrate the official opening of the new Lakelands Community House on Saturday 9 August.
The Community House, located on the corner Dalona Parkway and Jasper Way in the award-winning Lakelands Private Estate is a community partnership project between the City of Mandurah and Peet Limited.
Her Worship the Mayor of Mandurah Paddi Creevey will officially open the Community House at 12pm, with a free fun-filled community event to follow running until 3pm.
An afternoon for the whole family to enjoy is planned, with a host of activities and entertainment including a roving magician, arts and crafts and informative community displays by local groups as well as a free sausage sizzle!
Peet Limited Managing Director Brendan Gore said he was very pleased to see the completion of the project result in the opening of a great community facility.
"At Peet, we understand the importance of having the early provision of places and space for the community to meet and interact. This community building will provide an interim facility enabling the community to develop and form within their own suburb," said Mr Gore.
"And the Lakelands Community House project is a great demonstration of what can be achieved through public and private partnerships."
The Lakelands Community House is already the new home for the Lakelands Sales and Information Office and will also host future meetings of the Lakelands community groups. It will also be available for use by other local community groups, and will form a hub for Lakelands and the surrounding neighbourhood.
City of Mandurah Mayor Paddi Creevey said the Community House will provide a place for residents to meet, socialise, make new friends and gather information on services and activities available in the local area. She thanked the staff from both the Council and Peet Limited for all their work in finalising this project.
"Already people in the community are coming up with their own ideas about what they can use the House for and getting together to form groups which is tremendous to see," Mayor Creevey said. | | | 08 | | | | | 01 Apr 2008

Environment gets green thumbs from Lakelands community
Residents and the local community are being invited to register to take part in a special community planting day at Peet Limited's award-winning Lakelands Private Estate on Sunday 27 July as part of Planet Ark's National Tree Day.
The tree planting site will be along the Arramall Trail from Ballard Meander Park to Campion Fairway. The Trail follows the same path as the Mandurah Rail Line and the new trees will provide a nature strip between the railway and nearby residential housing.
Peet Limited Managing Director Brendan Gore said "supporting National Tree Day provided a great opportunity for the community to get involved and help achieve lasting benefits for the local environment".
"Environmental protection and sustainability are key parts of the development at Lakelands Private Estate and Peet is pleased to be able to help support this valuable and worthwhile initiative," Mr Gore said.
Participants will get involved with the planting of some 1,250 plants, which when fully grown will create a natural corridor for birdlife and will also help prevent erosion in the area. They will also assist with ground preparation, mulching and weed control.
Tools and equipment for planting will be provided and participants will be treated to a barbecue and refreshments at the end of the day.
Two days earlier, on Friday 25 July, students from local schools including Mandurah Baptist College will take their learning out of the classroom for Schools Tree Day.
The students will gather at Winjan Park to learn about the natural bushland area and gain a better understanding of the significance of the Winjan bushland area as a historical source of food and medicine to the indigenous community.
It will also provide the opportunity for students to get their hands dirty participating in activities that will benefit the community by ensuring the park's protection and restoration of degraded areas. The students will also undertake an ongoing monitoring program of this pocket of bush in Lakelands Private Estate.
Anyone interested in participating in the event are invited to contact Clara Deans at Creating Communities on 9284 0910, or email clara@creatingcommunities.com.au.
Participants in the National Tree Day are encouraged to bring a hat, sunscreen, water bottles and gloves. | | | 08 | | | | |
